 Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) state president K Chandrasekhara Rao demanded the government to celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day as State festival on par with Karnataka and Maharashtra States.

Talking to media persons on Thursday after hoisting the national flag at the Telangana Bhavan, the TRS chief said that the Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in all towns of Telangana region. The TRS members would also take out massive rallies in all towns hailing the sacrifices of the people, who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood movement.

The party also hoisted the national flag at Telangana martyrs’ memorial. He alleged that some people are making false allegations on Telangana history and revolutionary movements. The TRS would teach a fitting lesson to them by organizing movements in all Telangana towns.

In the meantime, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief D Srinivas also hoisted the tri-colour at Gandhi Bhavan to celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day. Talking to media persons after hoisting the flag, the PCC chief said that the Congress party would implement all the schemes launched by late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

He expressed confidence that  chief minister K Rosaiah would implement the YSR programmes effectively. Chief Minister K Rosaiah and late chief minister YSR’s close confidante K V P Ramachandra Rao also participated in the programme. On the occasion, the Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, felicitated the freedom fighters.
