Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Thursday called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan.

The PRP leader meeting with the Governor assumed importance in the wake of current volatile political situation.

Talking to media persons, Mr Chiranjeevi said that he came to greet Governor on the occasion of Sankranthi. It was only a courtesy call and there was no political importance to the meeting, he said.

He said the Governor expressed happiness over the peaceful situation in the state and for maintenance of law and order without breaking any violence after the submission Justice B N Srikrishna Commission report to the Centre.

Reacting on the volatile situation in the state, the PRP chief said the party would extend support to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the event of political turmoil in the state.

He said the PRP would extend outside support to the government if the need arises. “There is no serious deterioration of law and order to implement President’s Rule in the state,” he said.

Reacting on the participation of PRP MLAs in the Jal Deeksha of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy in New Delhi, Mr Chiranjeevi said the party would issue show-cause notices to the Legislators, seeking their explanation.

Based on the response, the party would initiate disciplinary action against them, he said.

The PRP chief added that the party supports an integrated Andhra Pradesh. He also said that his party’s stand has been reflected prominently in the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report.
