The state government is exhibiting an adamant attitude towards resolving the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu's 6-day old hunger strike even as his condition is said to be precarious.
The government however expressed its willingness to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the burning issues of the farmers on the condition that the fasting TDP leader resumed normal life after ending his agitation.
Mr Naidu, who refused to take saline and liquid food as suggested by the anxious doctors attending on him, became the subject for concern for the government.
Health and Medical Services Minister DL Ravindra told media persons that the health of the TDP chief is deteriorating by the day. As he has already rejected saline intake his condition seems to be precarious, Mr Ravindra said.
He also revealed that Mr Naidu’s family members' efforts to compel him to accept liquid food fell on deaf ears.
On the advice of the specialists, Mr Naidu's hospital room is to be converted into Intensive Care Unit with all the facilities since he may not agree to shift to the ICU ward for special treatment.
The Minister informed that following the Magistrate's intervention in Mr Naidu's case, the government is resolved to proceed with special treatment including intravenous pumping of liquid food to the fasting TDP president, whose hunger strike entered sixth day today.
The Minister also said that he would consult Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy over Mr Naidu's health.
