Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday called on the party rank and file to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level.

Addressing the District Congress Committee presidents and office bearers during his maiden visit to Gandhi Bhavan after assuming charge as Chief Minister, KKR said that he would visit every nook and corner in the state to strengthen Congress party at grassroots.

“If the party is strong at base level, the government would work properly and implement welfare schemes and programmes efficiently,” he pointed out.

Stating that the opportunities come for loyal workers at appropriate time, the Chief Minister said that he would make all efforts for sending 41 MPs from the state to Lok Sabha in the 2014 general elections.

He thanked the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other leaders in the New Delhi for choosing him for the Chief Minister’s post and giving him the opportunity to serve the people.

Reacting to the long pending demand of filling nominated posts, KKR said that a decision would be taken after a meeting with Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.

The PCC chief gave a cheque of Rs one lakh to towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for taking rescue and relief operations in cyclone affected districts.

According to sources, the meeting was organized to adopt a strategy on controlling the migration of leaders into yet to be formed party of defiant former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Sources say that the High Command has directed the PCC to keep a tab on activities of all leaders and inform about developments in Jagan camp.

Former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy from Chittoor district, who said that he would work against the Chief Minister, was also present at the meeting.
