Former minister Konda Surekha on Tuesday expressed confidence that former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s ideals and principles would be the guiding factor behind the political party to be launched by his son and former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy within 45 days.
Talking to media persons at her residence here on Tuesday, the staunch YSR family loyalist stated that YSR’s drive to work for the welfare of the people will inspire the proposed party. The former minister also added that the announcement of the party would be an answer to the prayers of the weaker sections, the underprivileged and the minorities who are fed up with 14 months of neglect and misrule, first by the Rosaiah government and now by the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.
Ms Surekha also exuded confidence that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will live up to the ideals of his father and become an ideal leader who will be able to return the people’s love and adulation by working for their welfare. The former minister also said that the people of the state were well aware that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy was forced to resign from the Congress party which was bent on marginalising him and his father’s welfare schemes. She added that the people also knew that the ‘manipulative’ policies of the Congress, particularly the attempt to drive a wedge between the members of the YSR family were the main reasons for the Kadapa MP to part ways with the party. She also pointed out to the many welfare schemes for the empowerment of women, with programmes like Pavala Vaddi, widow pension scheme and Abhaya hastam.
