Stamps and Registration Minister Thota Narsimham on Monday stated that the government would establish a toll free number to address the complaints over registration.

Talking media persons after assuming charge at the Secretariat, Mr Narasimha said the department will make efforts to host details of registration documents and records online soon.

He said the department would host details of records even they are more than 100 years old.

Stating that the department would respond to complaints immediately, he asked the people to lodge complaints in toll free number.

Mr Narasimha added that online registration is under the study by the government as part of its efforts to render better services to the people.

This branch of the government also assumes importance in view of its services availed widely by the people. The government, keeping the sector’s importance in mind, had carved out a separate ministry has been carved out with a separate minister. The Stamps and Registration Ministry was earlier merged with the Endowments Ministry.

Mr Narasimha revealed that he is planning to bring in certain changes in the Registration Wing by  updating records, computerising them, digitalising the important documents. He also said that the new systems will shortly be in place.

The Minister said that scanning of books, records among others will be effected as part of the steps to plug the loopholes in the sections of the department. This measure will also offer a good security to all the important records, Mr Narasimha said. 

Unlike in the past, now remittance through a challan will be acceptable by any bank, the Minister informed and added that  he has also fixed a target of Rs 3550 crore to mobilize resources through registration of lands and houses.

The Minister said that he would initiate serious action against those officials who involved in corruption charges.

He promised to take steps for corrupt-free and transparent administration in the department and sought the cooperation of officials in this regard.
