Rural Development Minister on Friday told INN that he would visit all districts to check whether Ordinance is well received and also ensure its implementation.

Mr Vasantha Kumar revealed that he would visit all the districts and even villages to get a firsthand account of the working of the MFIs as well as that of the officers in the light of the new Ordinance.

Asked when he would start his inspection schedule, the Minister did not reply.

"I can't give you the date now," said he, meaning that his schedule is part of feedback and a surprise campaign.

Mr Vasantha Kumar’s efforts at making sure that the Ordinance is implemented come even as the opposition has taken advantage of the issue of the arm-twisting by the MFIs in collecting loans.

It is not a hidden fact that the opposition parties are keeping a hawkish eye on the State Government to see how it manages to wriggle out of the fallout of the MFIs harassing the poor borrowers in the State.

The issue has given an issue to the opposition which it has seized gleefully with open arms and has managed to corner the government into promulgating an Ordinance.

Now comes the implementation part and how best the borrowers have taken it. Besides the district Collectors, it is the DRDA project directors who are expected to see that the people are made aware about the legal implications and their rights as given to them by the Ordinance which has come in effect.
