The State Election Commission on Tuesday rejected objections raised by some individuals and gave the nod for the registrations of the ‘Ysr Congress Party’ as it satisfied all the norms under the Symbol Order, 2001.

According to the EC, the decision to grant registration of the Ysr Congress Party as a political party without a reserved symbol, was taken with the provision that a bank account will be opened within seven days from the receipt of the order.

One K Shiva Kumar, had applied for registration of his political party under the Registration of Political Parties and Allotment of Symbols Order, 2001 with the State Election Commission, on July 6, 2010.

Two citizens, Velpula Mohan Babu, of Vutukuru Village, Chintakommadinne Mandal, YSR district and P Sudhakara Rao, of Indra Nagar Post, Golconda, Hyderabad had objected to the registration of the political party.

The State Election Commission examined Mr Shiva Kumar’s application and was satisfied with that it was in accordance with the conditions stipulated in the Symbols Order, 2001.

The process of registration was set in motion with the issue of a public notice on July 17, 2010 by the State Election Commission.
