Apart from University Grants Commission funds, Higher Education Minister P Sridhar Babu on Thursday stated that state government would release a grant of Rs 5 crore for the development of infrastructure facilities in the newly established universities in the state.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of a review meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the Secretariat, Sridhar Babu said that the Chief Minister has agreed in principle to release Rs 5 crore grant for providing infrastructure facilities in the newly established universities.
He said the Chief Minister has directed the higher education officials to verify the initial capital investment of the newly established degree colleges.
The Minister said that the CM has agreed to the proposal of recruitment of 500 lecturers on contract basis in colleges.
He said that the CM has also agreed to recruit all vacant posts in the Telugu Academy.
Reacting on the agitation of Telangana lawyers at the High Court, he said the three-member committee appointed for the purpose would look into their problem.
