Former Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president Bandaru Dattatreya on Thursday visited the Andhra Pradesh High Court to express his party’s solidarity with the protesting lawyers from Telangana.

Mr Dattatreya told media persons after interacting with the protesting lawyers that the Congress government is in slumber over the separate Telangana issue despite the demands for bifurcation growing more stringent.

He hit out at the government for its seeming lack of interest over the issue and said that, “The government does not appear to be interested to solve the T-issue and is maintaining silence despite the resentment among people rising.”

The senior BJP leader warned the government that the situation may turn from bad to worse if it does not take immediate action over the Telangana-lawyers demands to provide 42 per cent quota in Judiciary postings.

Mr Dattatreya also expressed his concern about the health of the lawyers who are on hunger strike. He said, “they appear to be feeble as their blood pressure and sugar levels are down. This is a cause for worry.”
