Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader Etela Rajender on Wednesday demanded the suspension of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Chairman Y Venkatarami Reddy as allegations of irregularities are mounting against him.

Talking to media persons at the TRS Legislature Party office, Mr Rajender demanded stringent action against the ‘corrupt’ chairman as his name figured in many recruitment scams being conducted by APPSC.

Mr Rajender also urged the government to cancel the Group-1 Preliminary examination which was conducted on September 5. He also said that the government should make its stand clear on demands of reserving 42 percent jobs for Telanganaites in APPSC recruitments.

The TRS leader urged the government to re-conduct the examination with implementing 42 percent quota afresh.

“Though the Telangana Ministers, MPs, MLAs opposed the conduct of Group-1 examination, the government went ahead with its decision, not protecting the interests of Telangana students,” he alleged.

He also alleged that, “Although Telangana students performed well in written test, the Commission awarded less marks in interviews.”

The TRS leader warned that the government would be held responsible for serious consequences if it did not initiate action in this direction.

Meanwhile, party MLA KT Rama Rao said that the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee would obey whatever decision is taken by the party on the celebration of Telangana Liberation Day.

He appealed to the Chief Minister to issue orders to celebrate the event officially across the state.

Reacting on the Chief Minister’s statement, urging parties to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day in party offices, he question Mr Rosaiah to explain reasons for not declaring the event official so far.
