Denying allegations of corruption against former chief minister late Ys Rajasekhara Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Monday condemned the remarks of Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu and termed them ‘baseless’ and `far from truth.’

Mr Srinivas told media persons at Gandhi Bhavan that Mr Naidu has provide proof to substantiate his allegations of corruption instead of making baseless charges.

Regretting the comments of the TDP chief against the former chief minister, Mr Srinivas charged Mr Naidu of stooping to such a level of `cheap politics’ to survive in the political arena.

He said that the TDP chief was resorting to such attacks on Congress party members as he was unable to digest the efficient leadership of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and strengthening of party at all levels.

“Mr Naidu is in frustration. That’s why he is making such comments. If he does not end such propaganda, the Congress leaders will teach him a fitting lesson soon,” he warned.

“There were no irregularities or any corruption that took place during YSR’s stint as chief minister,” Mr Srinivas said.

Criticizing Naidu for unnecessarily politicizing the shortage of fertilizers issue, he said the Congress has no connection with attack on the convoy of the TDP leader.

Reacting on separate PCC for Telangana and Andhra, Mr Srinivas said, “as a Telangana leader I welcome the proposal. The AICC will take a decision on Telangana after the Srikrishna Commission submits its report on controversial bifurcation issue,” he added.

The PCC chief asked Seemandhra and Telangana leaders to stop the blame game and exercise restraint as their statements on such an emotive and sensitive subject as the future of the state would disturb law and order situation.

Reacting on Odarpu Yatra of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress chief said that the party has no role in the yatra. He said the PCC has not imposed any restrictions on the participation of leaders on the yatra. The PCC would announce a financial package for the kin of those who died in the aftermath of YSR’s sudden death, after receiving guidelines from the AICC, he stated.
