It’s not often that a commercially unsuccessful film of a popular director is celebrated many years after its release. Sukumar has tasted that bitter-sweet emotion on quite a few occasions, particularly for Jagadam and 1: Nenokkadine. On the eve of Jagadam’s 15th release anniversary, Sukumar has expressed his interest to remake the film with its lead actor Ram Pothineni again.

“Jagadam was one of the earliest scripts I had written. As an actor who was barely 17-years-old, Ram was willing to do anything and everything for the film. I would never hear no for an answer. In a scene where he had to flip a coin, he learnt it in 10-15 minutes and executed it immediately. I was sure he was destined for greater heights. With all the maturity he has acquired as a performer, I am interested to collaborate with him again and possibly remake this film again,” Sukumar told in an interview.

Ace editor Sreekar Prasad had reportedly told Sukumar once that nearly every prominent filmmaker in Mumbai has Jagadam in their library; such is its popularity. Even the likes of Rajamouli have expressed admiration for the way Sukumar has executed some of the action sequences in Jagadam. Devi Sri Prasad had composed the tunes for the film, Rathnavelu with the cinematography, while the likes of Isha Sahani, Prakash Raj played other pivotal roles.
