It’s not very often that Kangana Ranaut speaks sense from her social media handle and today was one such day where narcissism wasn’t on her agenda. One of the most ambitious projects in her career, the Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivi, a trilingual is getting ready for release on April 23 and she’s given it everything to get into the skin of the role inspired by the legendary actor-politician. As Kangana wrapped the dubbing for the first half of the film, she was all praise for her director A L Vijay.

“Dear Vijay sir, as first half dubbing of #Thalaivi is over, only second half is left, this journey together is coming to an end, I never feel a sinking feeling that I feel as I think about it, I have identified this feeling as missing you factor I have a confession to make. First thing, I noticed about you was you say no to tea, coffee, wine, non veg, parties impossible to get close to you.

Then slowly I realised you are never far, you are not only amazingly competent but your eyes shine brighter when I excel as an artist, through so many ups and downs. I never saw a hint of anger, insecurity or despair in you, spoke to people who know you for decades and when they speak about you their eyes light up, you are not a human you are a devta, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and know that I miss you,” she shared in a note.

Thalaivi isn’t a crucial movie for Kangana alone but also for the director A L Vijay who’s suffered a spate of flops in the recent years. This is just the kind of message that would boost a filmmaker’s morale prior to a high profile release. The director has worked in many a genre with many leading actors including Vijay, Ajith, Prabhudeva, Tamannaah, Arya, Vikram, Anushka and it was only a matter of time that he would bounce bank. One hopes Thalaivi is that film for A L Vijay.
