Mega Prince Varun Tej’s gangster comedy film Valmiki directed by Harish Shankar under 14 Reels Plus Banner has been facing issues ever since the makers announced the title. Members of the Boya community filed a petition in the court asking the makers to change the title of the film.
Gopi Boya Meenaga of Boya Hakkula Porata Samithi, who contended that the title hurt sentiments because the name of a great saint like Valmiki was being used to describe a movie where the hero was donning the role of a rowdy, filed the petition in the court.
The High Court of Telangana State has sent notices to the makers to change the title without delay. The makers have responded to the notices and have informed that they will be changing the title to Gaddalakonda Ganesh, the character name of Varun Tej in the film.
Featuring Pooja Hegde as the female lead and Atharvaa Murali in protagonist role, Valmiki will hit the screens in few hours.
