Popular Telugu director Kodi Ramakrishna who was hospitalized yesterday and was put on a ventilator has passed away just a while ago at AIG hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Ramakrishna has been suffering from lung disease for some time. Earlier, he suffered a heart attack and paralytic attack, a few years ago. However, with the appropriate medical treatment, he fully recovered from the attack.

Kodi Ramakrishna made his film debut in Tollywood in the 80s and he directed over 100 films. In his career spanning three decades, he has worked as a filmmaker and screenwriter in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. 

The veteran director has directed supernatural Fantasy films; such as, Ammoru, Devi, Devullu, Devi Putrudu, Anji, and Arundhati (2009) which won ten state Nandi Awards, and two Filmfare Awards South, and became the second highest grossing Telugu film for that year. He directed Industry Hits Managamma Gari Manavadu and Muddula Mavayya. 

In 2012, Kodi Ramakrishna was conferred with Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for his contribution in Telugu films. His last directorial was Avatharam in 2014, which was a devotional drama.

Apart from directing films, he also acted in a handful of films namely Dongata, Aasti Mooredu Aasha Baaredu, Attagaaroo Swagatam, Inti Donga and Mudilla Muchata.
