Tamannaah speaking to scribes sprang a 'dark' surprise on viewers. She revealed that her appearance as Princess Avantika in Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali, stole the hearts of all so much so that many filmmakers wanted to show Tamannaah in the same manner.

Tamannaah said Rajamouli showed her in a dark and dusky manner and now the makers of Mega Star Chiranjeevi's Sye Raa and AL Vijay's Devi 2 made her take 50 look tests for her perfect dusky look. Tamannaah revealed, “I have been tanned to 10 shades darker and almost every time I have two different make-up kits on sets which is quite exciting. It’s a welcome change to see filmmakers not endorsing fair skin color on sets. The roles for both the films are challenging and I am fortunate to constantly get roles that challenge me as an actor.”

Speaking about the obsession for skin color, she said, “It’s high time the film industry starts rejecting the fairer beauty standard and this deep rooted, internalized racism. There needs to be a sense of inclusivity even when it comes to color and not just gender and caste.  Embrace your melanin. It doesn’t matter what shade your skin is. The unfairness of a standard which holds fair skin as the ideal is actually a dangerous cultural obsession.”

Tamannaah is also starring in Venkatesh, Varun Tej's F2 (Fun & Frustration) and Queen remake.
