There are days when heroines used to appear on screen only clad in saris with equal importance as heroes and romance used to be artistic. As days progressed on and tastes of audience took a rapid change with time, heroines have become mere glamour dolls exposing the skin, dancing with heroes. Characterizations wise, we aren’t seeing anything great to mention about present day exploitation of heroines because they are just viewed as elements to enhance the commercial value of a cinema and nothing more.

Looks like director Sudheer Varma has put forward the controversy on self respect and esteem of women by showcasing his heroine Kriti Sanon as a professional or say addicted to smoking. The film of ‘Dohchay’ left a big impact on audience not in total but only with the character of Kriti who smokes cigarettes publicly. This doesn’t mean, she has got anything like a bold or daring characterization. Amazingly, Kriti behaves like a timid when dealing with the role of Bullet Babu (Comedian Brahmi).

This can be said as a pure lapse in Sudheer Varma’s character designing ability. Kriti as Meera lacked in clarity and appeared obscure. At the same time, Sudheer may also want to establish a point that smoking culture is getting predominant in present day girls.
