Noted comedian, actor, director and TV anchor Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam passed away on Saturday, 7th of December, 2013 at his residence at Dilshukh Nagar of Hyderabad.  He is 54 and is survived by two sons. He has been suffering from cancer for the past few days. Dharmavarapu hailed from Kommineni Vari Palem of Prakasham District. The actor has been popular with his famous TV program, 'Anandobrahma' which was then telecasted in Doordarshan. 

Dharmavarapu was first seen in the film 'Bava Bava Panneeru'. 'Mr.Pellam', 'Indra',' Tagore', 'Manmadhudu', 'Nuvvu Nenu','Pelli Pusthakam', 'Varsham', 'Okkadu', 'Ready', 'Venky', 'Style', 'King', 'Bodyguard' etc. were some of his popular films. He was last seen in the movie 'Shadow', starred by Victory Venkatesh. he directed the film 'Thokaleni Pitta'. The state minister Mrs.DK. Aruna has reportedly paid her condolences to the members of the family of Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam. His last rites may be held on the evening of 8th December.
