Bollywood’s legendary actor Shammi Kapoor aged 79 died at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai today that is Sunday morning at 5 AM. He was heart throb among audience in mid 60’s and 70’s. He was admitted to the hospital a week ago for renal failure. 

Shammi Kapoor is the second son to iconic Prithviraj Kapoor. His brothers were Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. His close sources say Shammi joined cinema in 1948 as a junior artist for Rs.150 a month. His debut film ‘Jeevan Jyothi’ came in 1953 them his career stretched into 1970’s with films like ‘An Evening in Paris,’ ‘China Town,’ ‘Kashmir Ki Kali,’ ‘Janwar’ and ‘Junglee.’ He is tall, athletic and green eyed…a correct definition of Hero. Sharmila Tagore and Asha Parekh were his leading heroines.

Shammi Kapoor’s dance performances in romantic hits like ‘Tumsa Nahin Dekha’, ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ and ‘Junglee’ earned him comparisons with US singer Elvis Presley.
