Toxic OTT Release Window Amidst ZEE5 Deal Reports

Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups arrived in theatres on August 26, marking his first major release following KGF Chapter 2. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the gangster drama also features Nayanthara and Kiara Advani. However, its unconventional storytelling and long runtime have divided audiences and triggered mixed reactions.
Despite the divided response, Toxic opened strongly at the box office. Trade trackers reported ₹101.10 crore India net and ₹140.75 crore worldwide gross on day one. Collections dropped sharply afterward, but the film still crossed ₹300 crore gross globally during its opening week. Its commercial performance remains significant for Yash.
Attention has now shifted toward Toxic’s OTT premiere. No official streaming date has been announced, although reports suggest a four week window for regional languages like Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The Hindi version to release after eight week theatrical window. This could push its digital debut into late September and October. Some reports also speculate a festive release around Dussehra. These dates remain unconfirmed until the makers announce details.
ZEE5 is reported as a streaming destination, with claims that digital and satellite rights were discussed at around ₹230-235 crore across languages. However, neither the platform nor producers have officially confirmed the reported agreement. For now, viewers must wait for an announcement regarding the OTT platform, deal and premiere date.
