Toxic BookMyShow Rating Disappears Amid Mixed Audience Response

Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has become one of the biggest talking points in Indian cinema following its worldwide release on August 26. The film recorded a huge opening, reportedly collecting around ₹150 crore worldwide on Day 1, despite receiving mixed reactions from audiences and critics. While Yash’s performance, action sequences and visual presentation have received praise, several viewers have raised concerns about the screenplay, narrative structure and lengthy runtime.
Amid the divided response, the reported disappearance of the Toxic audience rating on BookMyShow has created another controversy. Several users on X and Reddit claimed that the rating was previously visible at around 5.5/10 but later disappeared, with only the number of likes reportedly remaining on the platform. Media reports also noted that ratings for some other films continued to be visible. However, BookMyShow has not publicly confirmed that the rating was deliberately removed because of the film's response, so claims linking the change to negative reviews remain unverified.
The alleged BookMyShow change quickly became a subject of discussion among moviegoers, with some social media users questioning whether ratings should be hidden after a film receives a poor audience response. Others suggested that the absence could have resulted from a technical or platform related change rather than any decision connected to the film. The controversy has therefore developed alongside the broader debate surrounding Toxic movie reviews, with viewers sharply divided over its storytelling and execution. The film currently has also received low ratings on some other platforms, although ratings can change as more audiences watch the movie.
Despite the criticism, the BookMyShow controversy has not affected Toxic’s strong openingday box office performance. The film reportedly earned around ₹60 crore from its Hindi version, ₹25 crore from Kannada, ₹16 crore from Telugu, ₹6 crore from Tamil and ₹3 crore from Malayalam, with approximately ₹30 crore coming from overseas markets. The strong numbers underline the enormous anticipation surrounding Yash following KGF: Chapter 2. The real test now is whether Toxic can maintain its momentum through the first weekend and overcome the mixed audience response through word of mouth.
