Toxic Story Was Reportedly Offered To Suriya Before Yash

Rocking Star Yash has returned to theatres with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups after a four-year gap following KGF: Chapter 2. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film released worldwide on August 26, 2026, amid huge expectations. While Yash’s performance and the film’s visual scale have received praise, audience reactions to the story and screenplay have been mixed.
Amid the discussion surrounding Toxic, a new claim has surfaced on social media suggesting that the film’s story was initially narrated to Tamil star Suriya. According to this unverified report, Suriya was not keen on the project because of its bold content and intense action sequences. The story was allegedly later taken to Yash, who agreed to headline the film.
There is no official confirmation from Suriya, Yash, Geetu Mohandas or the Toxic team regarding the claim that Suriya was approached first. Therefore, the story should currently be treated only as an industry rumour rather than an established fact. Such reports have nevertheless added another layer of curiosity to the discussion around Yash’s latest release.
Yash’s decision to take time after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2 had already created strong anticipation for Toxic. The film promised a darker and more unconventional world, supported by a large-scale production and an ensemble cast featuring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. While the technical presentation and Yash’s screen presence have impressed many viewers, some have criticised the lengthy narrative and screenplay.
