South India Nightingale makes a heavenly abode

Renowned legendary singer S.Janaki, hailed as South India Nightingale passed away few minutes back leaving everyone tearstruck. She passed away due to cardiac arrest at Apollo hospital in Mysuru at around 6.30 PM. She was admitted on Saturday at 12.30 pm as she had complained about fever and drowsiness.

Despite the best efforts of the doctors to revive her health, they couldn't retrieve her situation. Hospital Authorities shared "Janaki was suffering from low BP, metabolic acidosis, sepsis with septic shock. She had two episodes of cardiac arrest, but was revived. However, she could not survive after a third round of cardiac arrest,"

S.Janaki , 88 year old passed away and her granddaughter shared the news in an emotional manner. Janaki's grand daughter Apsara, came up with the following post.

“It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved grandmother and legendary singer, Smt. S. Janaki.”

“She left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. While our hearts are heavy, we are also filled with gratitude for the extraordinary life she lived and the immeasurable joy she brought to millions through her timeless music.”

“To the world, she was an iconic voice whose songs became part of countless memories. To us, she was a loving grandmother whose warmth, humility, kindness, and grace will remain with us forever.”

“We kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time as we grieve and come to terms with this loss. Thank you for your love, prayers, and understanding.”

In her six decade career S.Janaki sang more than 20,000 songs across multiple Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, making her one of the most prolific singers in Indian cinema. She received four National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and numerous state honours for her contributions to music.

She received 33 different State Film Awards. Born on April 23, 1938 in Pallapatla, Repalle Taluka,, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, S.Janaki spent the majority of her childhood in Sircilla, where she made her first on-stage performance at just nine years old. Although she learned the fundamentals of music from a Nadaswaram vidwan named Paidiswamy

Her father Sistla Sreeramamurthy worked as a teacher and also as an ayurvedic doctor. Janaki married V.Ram Prasad in 1959 and he passed away in 1997 following a cardiac arrest. Condolences are pouring in from all quarters from various celebrities.
