Three major South Indian films, Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan, Rebel Star Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab, and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, are gearing up for January releases, with advance booking trends showing promising numbers overseas and in the domestic market. Jana Nayagan and The Raja Saab have opened bookings with strong numbers, while Parasakthi faces delays in Tamil Nadu due to pending censor clearance.
Jana Nayagan stands out with massive budget and strong advance bookings, having reported nearly Rs 35 crore in worldwide pre-sales so far. The film's theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu were sold for a record Rs 105 crore, while overseas rights fetched Rs 78 crore. The recently released trailer has generated strong buzz among fans, with over 50,000 tickets sold in the UK and 21,115 tickets sold in North America.
The Raja Saab is seeing steady momentum in overseas advance bookings, with advance ticket sales crossing $500,000 in North America. The Telugu fantasy horror comedy is scheduled for a global release on January 9, with overseas premieres set for January 8. Directed by Maruthi, the film features Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, and Nidhhi Agerwal, among others.
In contrast, Parasakthi's advance bookings have faced hurdles in Tamil Nadu due to pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Despite the delay, the film has opened bookings in overseas markets, Karnataka, and Kerala, with early response being encouraging. The film's opening prospects are uncertain, with full scale advance booking in Tamil Nadu still pending.
