Legendary Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja, 84, has been admitted to a Chennai hospital after experiencing breathing problems. Thankfully, doctors say he's stable and responding well to treatment, though he's still under close watch in the ICU. The hospital has issued a statement saying Bharathiraja is receiving appropriate medical care and his vital parameters remain within normal limits.

Bharathiraja's health scare comes less than a year after he lost his son Manoj to a sudden cardiac arrest, a loss that left him deeply shaken. His brother Jayaraj Periyamayathevar revealed that Bharathiraja has been unable to cope with this loss, often breaking down while looking at his son's photos.

Bharathiraja is known for directing critically acclaimed films like "16 Vayathinile" (1977), "Kizhakke Pogum Rail" (1978), and "Mudhal Mariyathai" (1985). He has won six National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards South, and was honored with the Padma Shri in 2004 for his contributions to Tamil cinema. Bharathiraja has also acted in films, with his latest appearance being in Tharun Moorthy's Mohanlal-Shobana starrer "Thudarum" (2025).

He also directed Telugu films like Aaradhana with Chiranjeevi and Seethakoka Chiluka with Karthik. Bharathiraja's films are known for their naturalness in storytelling, honesty in characters, and depth of emotions. He has introduced many actors to the industry, including Radhika, Radha, and Karthik. Fans and film personalities are hoping that Bharathiraja recovers quickly and returns to normal life.
