Veteran Bollywood Actor Satish Shah Passed Away

Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his iconic roles in TV shows like 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai' and films such as 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaar', 'Main Hoon Na', and more, has passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. The news of his demise was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who remembered Shah as a great actor and an even greater human being.

Shah's career spanned nearly five decades, with over 200 films and television series to his credit. He was born on June 25, 1951, in Mandvi, Gujarat, to a Kutchi Gujarati family and graduated from St. Xavier's College in Mumbai. Shah's acting versatility shone in the 1984 show Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where he portrayed 55 distinct characters over 55 episodes. His iconic performances include roles in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Main Hoon Na (2004), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007).

Shah's television career was marked by memorable roles in shows like Filmy Chakkar (1995), Ghar Jamai (1997), and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004). His on screen chemistry with Ratna Pathak Shah in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai remains iconic, with Shah's character, Indravadhan, gaining fame for his witty one liners. Shah was appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society in 2015, further highlighting his contribution to Indian cinema and arts.

Shah's legacy extends beyond his impressive body of work. He was known for his humility and kindness, both on and off the screen. His passing marks the end of an era, leaving behind a void in the Indian entertainment industry. May he rest in peace. He was married to designer Madhu Shah. Satish Shah's last movie was Humshakals in 2014. He was hospitalized due to COVID in 2020 but recovered after a week.
