Diya Suriya, the 17 year old daughter of renowned actors Suriya and Jyothika, has made her directorial debut with a docu drama titled 'Leading Light'. Produced by her parents under the banner of 2D Entertainment, this 13 minute film focuses on the lives of Bollywood women gaffers, highlighting their untold stories and experiences working behind the scenes in the film industry.
The docu-drama features intimate interviews with three pioneering women in the field: Hetall Deddhia, Priyanka Singh, and Leena Gangurde. 'Leading Light' is currently being screened at the Oscar Qualifying Run at Regency Theatre in Los Angeles, California, from September 26 to October 2, with daily shows at 12:00 PM. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Diya Suriya, who has garnered praise for her directorial skills at just 17.
Meanwhile, Diya's father, actor Suriya, has a series of films lined up, including director RJ Balaji's 'Karuppu', which is expected to hit screens soon. The film's teaser showcases Suriya's character, Saravanan, also known as Karuppu, and features action sequences and punchlines.
Actress Trisha plays the female lead, alongside Malayalam actors Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, and Tamil actors Yogi Babu and cinematographer Natty. The film boasts music by Sai Abhyankkar and cinematography by GK Vishnu, who has previously worked on notable films like 'Bigil', 'Jawan', and 'Mersal'.
