After the super success of Ghajini in Tamil and Telugu he became a noted director. When the success repeated itself with the Hindi version of the same film, Murugadoss became top notch. Now the director is among the few Indian film makers who have been signed up with Hollywood companies.

Though his success wave is a high up, he has not forgotten his roots. The director who hails from a small village near Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu has bought a theatre there. He has renovated the theatre by installing latest equipments, thereby improving the film watching experience of the people there. It is said that this was the same theatre where he used to watch movies as a kid and this is where he grew interested in cinema.
