South Indian famous singer Swarnalatha who is known for memorable songs in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu and Kannada languages is no more. Suffering with a lung related disease from long time, she took her last breath today at a private Hospital in Chennai, few hours ago.

Aged 37 years, Swarnalatha worked more with Ilayarja and AR Rahman. Her famous hits in Telugu include, ‘Maaya Mashchindra…’ from ‘Bharateeyudu;’ ‘Kuchchi Kuchchi Koonamma’ from ‘Bombay;’ ‘Mukkaala Muqaabula…’ from ‘Premikudu;’ ‘Raamma Chilakamma…’ from ‘Choodalani Undi;' 'Yamuna Thatilo Nallanayya Kai...' from 'Dalapathi' and many more with Music directors like Mani Sharma, MM Keeravani, Koti and MM Sreelekha.

Hailing from Palakkad in Kerala, Swarnalatha won National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her rendition of the famous song ‘Porale Ponnuthayi…’ from the film ‘Karuththamma’ for which Music is composed by AR Rahman.
