Behind the Alaa Modalaindi: Youngster Nani impressed with ‘Ashta Chemma’ and the debut beauty Nitya Menon is looking promising. With Kalyani Malik’s music also getting positive feed back, it is BV Nandini Reddy’s directorial skills that will be tested with this ‘Non Love’ story. Let us see, where ‘Alaa Modalaindi’ is heading for?

In the Movie Alaa Modalaindi: Simran (Kriti Kharbanda) is the love interest of Gautam (Nani) while Nitya (Nitya Menon) residing in Bangalore wants to marry her relative Anand. Unfortunately Gautam, Nani fail in their attempt as Simran and Anand tie the knot. These two love failed candidates meet in the marriage of Simran in Hyderabad and become good friends lead to budding of love but none of them expresses. In a turn around of events, Gautam is informed that Nitya is already engaged to Deepak (Chaitanya) and she leaves back to Bangalore.

With support of his mother Revathi (Rohini), Gautham gets onto his routine job and masti with friends falling in love again with Kavya (Sneha Ullal), a veterinary doctor from Tamil family. How did Nitya break her engagement with Deepak and Gautham looses Kavya is the next level of movie.

Entire story is narrated in a flash back mode by Gautham to kidnapper John Abraham (Ashish Vidyarthi). How did Gautham and John Abraham with help of their friends’ reach Bangalore to meet Nithya and how did they patch up form rest of climax.

Values of the Movie Alaa Modalaindi: Nani is getting better with each movie as an artist. The timing of dialogues and the ease in body language suited the role of this urban guy. Heroine Nitya Menon is so cute and chubby. In spite of being stout in physical appearance, Nitya is real charm of this movie. The curly hair and expressive eyes with no camera consciousness of Nitya gave an impression that this isn’t her debut movie. Sneha Ullal looked bright but the character was very short in span. Among the others Rohini gave honest performance while Ashish Vidyarthi, Pragathi, Appaji, Hemant, Kriti Kharbanda and others were okay.

Nandini Reddy’s first concentration as director to keep the audience glued to screens with at least a bit of emotional quotient in her narration proved successful. Her job is half done with wonderful lead artists who single handedly saved the movie. Characterizations are natural with situational comedy well weaved. Though this one is not a great story line, it is the magic of script and narration that saved the grace and feel in movie. Cinematography was not that appealing work while editing was good and quick. Especially dialogues played key role in maintaining the emotions in tact well supported by Kalyani Malik’s background score. Production values of Ranjith Movies and Damodar Prasad were also good.

Out of the Movie Alaa Modalaindi: Nandini Reddy has done a meritoruious job as movies like these always offer enough space to fare better in A centers. Core theme is about how big may be the simple misunderstandings; destiny will help the true love to win. Though we find a dull take off in first scenes of first and second halves, story takes the momentum as movie progresses with good doses of comic elements mixed. Heroine Nitya Menon will obviously get out with distinction marks and Nani as usual well supported and tried his best to match the standards of Nitya. Especially voice of Nitya was a big asset for her role.

First half is a real entertainer while second half has few boring moments till the climax was again fun filled with the drunkard Ramesh, the software employee. Finally, it is the unique taste of Nandini Reddy that could win the acceptance from majority of crowds.

Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Alaa Modalaindi: Decently narrated cool urban love story.
