Behind the Movie Ranga The Donga: Mighty Star Srikanth is raging continuous battles to win BO from long time with mass roles including his 100th film, a failure ‘Mahatma.’ Turning as a director is villain artist GV Sudhakar Naidu trying his luck second time with this flick. More than Srikanth and Ramya Krishna, there is no crowd pulling factors for this Ranga. Let us see, how far did they succeed in stealing the hearts of audience?

In the Movie Ranga The Donga: Ranga (Srikanth) is head of a clever gang of thieves (Shivaji Raja, Thirupathi Babu and others) who live in Stuart Nagar doing their duty of looting the houses of only corrupted police officials. Ranga is treated as an orphan brought up by an old lady (Telangana Shakuntala). Mangamma (Vimala Raman), the Sub Inspector of Police falls in love with Ranga on very first sight and they both sing a song.

Arrival of strict ACP (Naga Babu) makes the team of Ranga caught red handed when looting ACP’s home. On the way getting out from the Police Station, a huge bomb blast occurs and Ranga finds Bhavani Prasad (Srikanth), a Rayalaseema faction leader found dead whose face features exactly match with him.

Ranga and his friends are forcibly shifted to Simhapuri, a village in Anantapur district and a flash back is narrated where in it will be revealed that Bhavani Prasad and Ranga are sons of a faction leader Manohar Prasad (CR Manohar, producer of the movie) having a long term feud with faction family of Naga Raju of Pulicharla village. Bhavani Prasad, his wife Surekha (Ramya Krishna) and their right hand Rathaiah (GV) had a dream to make Rayalaseema, a fertile land with no faction shades which is opposed by rival Naga Raju family. How did Ranga replace Bhavani Prasad and accomplish his brother’s dream forms the climax.

Values and Out of the Movie Ranga The Donga: This movie is again a routine faction stuff narrated with a different backdrop. Story doesn’t have any new elements and script work was done with plenty of loopholes missing the very essence of film, especially in second half. Direction was weak as GV failed to convince the audience about his core point. With all masala elements needed for a pucca commercial entertainer, GV could have dealt the movie much better than this. It is again the regular row of Sumo vehicles stopping with sudden breaks and the same routine dialogues on Pourusham. One point where GV wins the audience is with scenes of Jaya Prakash Reddy titled as ‘Faction Star’ by hero and the comedy episodes there on along with the kind of tricks Ranga and his thieves gang  accord to when looting the houses of Police officials. Cinematography by Poorna Kandru was superb work and editing by Gowtham Raju was also good. Music by Chakri was just average except one melody song with Vimala Raman in second half. Production values of CR Manohar were good.

Performance wise Srikanth looked handsome in both the characters. Unlucky point is that Srikanth was given very few scenes to excel in the character of faction leader while the role of Ranga was tailor made for his body language. In entire first half, Srikanth has shown good histrionics and energetic performance dealing comedy scenes with perfection. Heroine Vimala Raman is hot to handle but her West Godavari accent is disgusting. She was just for the sake of songs and comedy in first half. Ramya Krishna is totally wasted with just one expression in entire movie, a character which failed in etching. Villain artist was fat with thick moustache twisted but didn’t show the power required for a cruel faction leader. Same problem, GV failed again in strong characterization. Telangana Shakuntala, Chalapathi Rao, Shivaji Raja, special appearance of Nagendra Babu, Chakri and item number of Sakshi Shivanand were just okay.

Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Ranga The Donga: Stale faction story failed in narration.
