Information Technology Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the Telangana Government's latest initiative T-Works would be India’s largest maker-space and probably world’s second largest design centre.

Addressing the 17th CII-NID India Design Summit here on Tuesday, Ktr said any person, irrespective of age and professional background, can walk in with an idea to collaborate with other talented individuals and convert their ideas into designs, later transform their designs into a working prototype. This prestigious initiative will start its operations by the end of next year. He said T-Works would help in building products in the domains of mechanical, electromechanical, electronics and semiconductor, to help you build products in the fields of automobile, IoT, avionics, drones, medical instruments, defence equipment, consumer electronics, telecom products, mobile devices and gadgets, sensors, and so on.  One could use the freely available tools, software, test and measurement equipment to build only product, only limited by your imagination.

"We will have CNC machines and cutting machines of all kinds, the welding and carpentry tools, the PCB assembly machines, 3D printers of all ranges, to help you build your prototypes. It will be open to all on non-discriminatory basis," he said.

T-Works is going to be 250,000 sq. ft. facility, and will house equipment worth more than 20 million dollars, with many partners companies offering their tools, software and equipment. 

It will become one of the cornerstones, the essential hub in the wheel, in heralding the new wave of entrepreneurs, makers, doers, tinkerers in this country. Designers of all kinds, aesthetic, textile, fashion, lifestyle, mechanical, technological, will find T-Works a much desired platform to collaborate, to foster, and fuel new growth engines of the new Industrial Revolution.

The two day summit is hosting delegates from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Lucknow. The CII Design Excellence Awards 2017 were announced at the event which were handed over to the winners by KT Rama Rao.
