Strongly defending the decision to demolish the heritage building of Osmania General Hospital, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said old buildings, including Charminar, should be demolished if they become dilapidated.

Speaking to a private news channel, Mahmood Ali said that the Charminar will be demolished if its structure turns weak posing a threat to the lives of people. He condemned the politics being played around shifting of OGH. He said people should object if the government renames the building. He said the present OGH building has turned very weak and could collapse anytime. Therefore, it was essential to demolish it to construct a new structure. "The new building will be a 10-floor building with all modern amenities which will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 100 crore. More number of patients will get quality treatment in the new building. People should decide whether they want treatment of museum?" he asked.
