On the second day of party's annual convention "Mahanadu" at Gandipet on Thursday, the Telugu Desam Party passed a resolution demanding that the Centre confer 'Bharat Ratna' on TDP founder and former Chief Minister late Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao posthumously.

Addressing the meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said that late NTR has made a huge contribution in various sectors, especially agriculture. He also created history in Indian politics by bringing different parties on platform. He also announced that a status of NTR would be installed on the banks of river Godavari. The State Government will also launch "NTR Dhoti and Sari" scheme by allocating Rs 400 crore to help the weavers.

NTR's son and Hindupur MLA N Balakrishna, Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju and other leaders also recalled the services rendered by late NTR for the welfare of society.
