In view of the incident of exchange of fire between police and two-member criminal gang on Saturday at Janakipuram village of Nalgonda District in Telangana state where one police constable was killed and three other police personnel were injured, Andhra Pradesh DGP JV Ramudu instructed all District Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police of Vijayawada and Vishapkapatnam to be on alert by taking all security measures to avert untoward incidents.

“As per the latest information, though the offenders were not clearly identified so far, it is strongly suspected that they belong to the banned student Islamic Movement of India.  There is every likelihood that their associates might have taken shelter in different parts of the Andhra Pradesh state and may indulge in similar offences hence,” the DGP said while asking all the Unit officers to follow the instructions.

All units have been directed to position Quick reaction teams to meet contingencies and revisit security of all vulnerable installations, VIPs and places of congregation, Religious institutions and places frequently visited by foreigners, etc., and brief appropriately the staff deployed for security duties.
