Ysr Congress Party president and Leader of the Opposition has welcomed the Andhra Pradesh Government's decision of setting up the new capital of Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada.

However, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the decision should have been taken after having discussed the issue in the State Legislative Assembly. He said his party had no objection to the location of the new capital and it only opposed the manner in which the decision was announced. He said that the YSRCP would give its constructive suggestions on the development of new capital.

Jagan said that the new capital would required nearly 30,000 acres of land and the land-pooling mechanism being proposed by State Government would lead to sharp rise in the prices of land benefitting landlords.
