Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali on Saturday informed that the State Government would order a high-level probe into the use and misuse of Bhoodan lands in the State.

Speaking to select media persons at the State Secretariat here, Mahmood Ali said that about 1-2 lakh acres of Bhoodan land exists in almost all districts of Telangana. However, the same has been put to misuse for commercial purposes. He said that the government would come out with a comprehensive policy on Bhoodaan lands after the receipt of enquiry report. A committee led by Principal Secretary is being constituted next week to probe into the matter.

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that two senior officials of the rank of Joint Collector and RDO were being appointed in his Peshi to monitor the implementation of land reforms and their usage in the State. He also informed that new steps would be taken in the next 10 to 15 days to prevent irregularities in the Registration and Stamps Department.

Mahmood Ali claimed that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured to consider the request of Telangana Government to provide Rs 600 crore to the revenue survey. He hinted that the Telangana Cabinet might take some important decisions on issues related to Revenue Department during its next meeting to be held on July 7.
