Congress seeks disqualification of five rebel MLCs

Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council D Srinivas on Saturday sought the disqualification of five Congress MLCs who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi recently.

Speaking to media persons after meeting Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram here, Srinivas informed that the Congress party has sought the disqualification of KR Amos, Jagadishwar Reddy, V. Bhupal Reddy, Bhanuprasad and N Rajalingam as members of Telangana Legislative Council. He said those MLCs were elected or appointed to the post on the Congress party's banner. Therefore, they should be disqualified as MLCs as they cease to be the Congress members.

Without naming Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Srinivas alleged that the ruling party was encouraging defections in Congress party. He said that legal action was also being initiated against the rebel MLCs.
