Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao on Sunday expressed confidence that Congress party would win at least 75-80 Assembly seats in the ensuing general elections.

Speaking to media persons here, VHR claimed that there was a Congress wave going on in the Telangana as people have realised that it was AICC President Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood to the Telangana region. He said there some hard feelings against the Congress party due to the anti-Telangana moves of the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. However, such feelings have turned positive after the Congress Government ensured passing of Telangana Bill in the Parliament.

VHR said that people were upset with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which he alleged has turned into a family unit. He said that the Congress candidates have been receiving tremendous response from the people across the region. He also claimed that people would reject the TDP candidates due to their "unholy" alliance with the BJP.

He said that the Congress party is becoming stronger in Telangana region everyday.
