The High Court on Monday reprimanded Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation V V Lakshminarayana for speaking to media and leaking information to a section of media against YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, who was accused in the disproportionate assets case.

Taking a serious note on the issue, High Court bench headed by interim chief justice P C Ghosh and C Praveen Kumar asked V V Lakshminarayana to submit his explanation by July 9.

Responding to a public interest litigation petition filed by Bhavanam Bhushan from Guntur on the mobile call data records of Lakshminarayana, which exposed that he had spoken to the selective media several times in the recent past, the court asked the CBI to explain the need to speak to the media.

In his petition, Bhushan alleged that Lakshminarayana had deliberately leaked information to the selective media on the ongoing investigation against Jaganmohan Reddy.
