Denied kickbacks, KCR objecting to Metro Rail

Alleging that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao raised objections to the Metro Rail project because he was denied illegal funds, Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Wednesday said that the state government is not shying away from clarifying any doubts before an all party delegation.

Talking to media persons at the Secretariat, Mr Nagender said that the government was just ready to face an all-party meeting to clarify on any point on the Metro Rail project.

The Minister stated that he was repeating that the Metro Rail project was taken up with a view to easing the traffic snarls or dislocations in the twin cities. The state government will compensate the land owners wherever the railway track was being built, Mr Nagender said, adding that this included heritage buildings too.

“The reason behind KCR’s repeated allegations against the government on the Metro Rail project is due to denial of illegal funds or kickbacks to him,” the Labour Minister said.

 “We are ready to accept any suggestions for improvement and then clear doubts on the project,” he stated and added that it was intended to provide relief to the commuters who had been suffering from the growing traffic jams in the city.

Mr Nagender also warned KCR not to resort to stall the progress of the said programme for selfish ends. “Any attempt to obstruct the Metro Rail project would not be tolerated,” the Minister said.

He interestingly reacted to KCR’s allegations in local parlance stating “we are no way inferior to others.”
