Decision to prorogue House a conspiracy against TDP: Yanamala

The telugu desam party on Tuesday suspected a conspiracy behind the Governor’s decision to prorogue the state Assembly before its No Confidence Motion was put to vote.

Expressing incredulity at the statement made by Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Monday that the notice given by the TDP on the No Confidence Motion had not come to his notice, telugu desam party politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that that particular comment and Governor ESL Narasimhan’s decision to prorogue the Assembly were an attempt to scuttle the democratic right of the main opposition party.

Mr Ramakrishnudu told media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan that the Speaker, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy were all part of the conspiracy to thwart the TDP’s attempt to put the government in the dock, with the Governor an unwitting participant.

“How can the Speaker say that the No Confidence Motion notice had not come to his notice? This is a violation of established procedure of the House,” the senior TDP leader said.

Promising that the TDP would not let go of the matter so easily, Mr Ramakrishnudu said that the Speaker has to clarify whether the notice of the No Confidence Motion was accepted or rejected.

“We demand clarity on the notice. The Speaker must give an assurance to the TDP over the introduction of No Confidence Motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government,” the politburo member stated.

When asked to comment on the appointment of Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana as the new Pradesh Congress Committee president, Mr Ramakrishnudu said that it would not make the slightest difference to the ruling party as it was sinking in any case.

“The Congress is a sinking ship and the change in the party’s state head will not make any difference. Though the Praja Rajyam Party is about to merge into the Congress and the YSR Congress Party will also do so in the future, the party still remains a sinking ship,” the senior TDP leader stated.
