Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday vowed to ensure supply of nine hours of free power to farmers if his party was voted to power in the next elections.
Addressing the gathering at the party’s annual conclave, the Mahanadu at Gandipet, the TDP chief disclosed that his party has already included the supply of free power to farmers in the party’s agriculture manifesto.
Slamming the state government for its indifferent attitude in redressing the farmers’ problems, Mr Naidu said that the TDP would introduce a ‘special budget’ for farmers on the lines of Karnataka.
Dedicating the 30th Mahanadu to the cause of farmers, the former chief minister stated that the meeting has decided to appoint a committee to resolve all farmers’ issues.
He demanded that the Centre scrap Adarsh Rythu system and give its nod to changes in the Seeds Act.
Mr Naidu also reiterated the TDP’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and vowed that the party will continue its fight on farmers issues until they get due justice from the government.
