A City Magistrate on Wednesday remanded the eight persons, accused of being involved in the attack on Mim Chandrayanagutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi to 14 days judicial custody.

According to information received here, apart from the seven accused who were produced before media persons on Tuesday, one more person Muzzaffar Ali Khan has been detained and remanded.

However, details about Muzzaffar Ali Khan’s role in the attack are still sketchy. The seven others have been identified by the police as Mohammed bin Omar Yafai alias Mohammed Pahelwan, his brother his brother Hussain Bin Omer Yafai alias Hassan, Yahiya Bin Younus Yafai, Isa Bin Younus Yafai, Faisal Bin Ahmed Yafai,  Fazal Bin Ahmed, and Younus Bin Omer Yafai.

The eight accused had been produced before a Magistrate at his residence at Green Park Colony in Saidabad at 9 AM.

Sources say that the accused were produced before the Magistrate at his residence to avoid the crowds expected to gather at the Nampally Criminal Courts.

Following the remand, the police shifted them to Cherlapally Central Jail. The police have arrested seven out of nine involved in the attack.

The accused attacked Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi during his Padayatra in Barkas division of Chandrayangutta constituency last Saturday. 

The police suspect the land dispute and rivalry might be reason for the attack on the MLA. Earlier, the police have transferred the case from City crime station to Detective department.
