MPs' stir to dilute Telangana agitation?

The  Congress Exercise has begun well in advance to dilute the process of the Srikrishna Panel’s Report which is to hit the table on December 31.

Indications that the ruling party has been giving is just enough to take credence that it has been preparing for quite some time to contain the groundswell that could emanate from the uprising on Telangana struggle.

The Congress MPs' Satyagraha’ is no more than a high drama being enacted at the nick of the moment here merely to divert the attention of the expected uprising from the students and the TRS. Their twin objective seems to be gaining grounds too with the Ministers' endeavour to pacify the champions of the students’ cause.

The supposed steadfastness of the MPs to continue their stir consolidated the fact that they were avowed to do their 'job' to toe the line of High Command. They had also shunned the Chief Minister’s emissaries’ message which was conveyed to them so dramatically. Otherwise they are not the ones to desert their luxuries so easily and that too at a short notice.

Very obviously the MPs’ team acting at the behest of their High Command are shedding crocodile tears. Otherwise why did they choose an occasion so close to the Panel Report to display this abrupt sympathy for the poor students who had been languishing in the jails for over one year.

If not an ulterior motive what else is this. The turn of events and the anxious political developments left them with no other alternative except to go ahead for an eye wash. To safeguard themselves from opposition’s onslaught, the situation induced them to undertake the stir to defuse the ‘Telangana’ and the students’ unrest both in one go.

Ironically, well ahead of the Srikrishna Panel Report, forces have been reinforced and the DGP spelt out in no uncertain terms that provocative statements from any quarter would be dealt with seriously.

The Congress managers had also expressed their apprehensions about the stability of the state government. If only another uprising should overtake the state again the High Command will be forced as well to go for an ‘alternative’. This is what the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has been trying to avoid the most from the day one.

Who are they going to fool? At least  they must know that the press can seldom be taken for a ride.
