Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Tuesday warned of disciplinary action against those who issue statements against High Command and Chief Minister.

Talking to media persons after hosting a luncheon for Chief Minister K Rosaiah and MPs at Lake View Guest House in the City, the PCC chief said the meeting was organized to sink differences between MPs and increase cooperation and coordination among themselves.

Mr Srinivas called upon MPs not to issue statements which could potentially damage the party’s, High Command’s and AICC President Sonia Gandhi’s image.

The PCC chief asked the leaders to raise their views or statements before party forum instead of issuing them before media, embarrassing the leaders.

He advised the MPs to make efforts for strengthening the hands of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Centre.

“Though the leaders have different views on issues, they have no differences on the leadership of Chief Minister and Sonia Gandhi,” averred K Kesava Rao, Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader of the party.

Mr Keshav Rao said the Chief Minister K Rosaiah and PCC Chief D Srinivas had appealed to MPs to maintain restraint while issuing statements on Telangana statehood issue.

MP Sabbam Hari hailed the move of PCC chief for his bid to bury the differences between MPs.

However, MP Sarvey Sathyanarayana criticized the PCC chief for not initiating action against those who are speaking against the Chief Minister and High Command.

Why he is not initiating action against those who are issuing statements against the Chief Minister, Mr Sathyanarayana wondered.

Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav urged the Chief Minister to fill up nominated posts in the state immediately with loyal party workers. He said the nominated posts have been not filled up since last three years.

About half of the MPs from the state turned up for the meeting and exchanged their views on various issues.

According to sources, the meeting was conducted following the directions of Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the wake of Srikrishna Commission submitting its report by December 31 on the controversial issue of bifurcation of the state.

Earlier, the Telangana Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs met at the residence of MP Vivek to discuss the guideline of giving Rs 1 lakh in financial assistance to those who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana and observing Martyrs Day in Karimnagar on October 2.

They formed a Joint Action Committee under leadership of Narsareddy to chalk modalities for sanctioning financial assistance for 400 martyrs who died for cause of Telangana.
