On the eve of the completion of one year as head of the government, Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday said that he was ‘satisfied’ with his first year in office.

Talking to media persons, Mr Rosaiah who took over the reins of power at one of the most difficult times in the state’s recent history following the death of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash on September 2 in Nallamalla Forests, said that his reign had begun at a time of droughts. He reminded that copious rainfall has led to the possibility of good harvest in the state.

Mr Rosaiah thanked Mother Nature for her kindness and the people of the state for their cooperation during the past one year of his tenure.

The Chief Minister said that weeding out the ineligible persons who had been availing the various welfare schemes launched by the government had begun during the reign of his predecessor and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Referring to the intense pressure built against his rule by the son of his predecessor YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Rosaiah said that he is not worried about the Kadapa MP as the High Command will handle him and he does not have to do anything.

Referring to the Srikrishna Committee, the Chief Minister said that he expected the Panel to file its Report on or before its earlier announced date of December 31, 2010. He said that it was his desire that the recommendations in the Report should be accepted by all the interested parties, even if they go against their wishes.

When questioned about the possible expansion of his Cabinet, Mr Rosaiah said that talk about reshuffling of his Ministers was a figment of the media’s imagination. The Chief Minister said that he has not even broached the subject with the party High Command.

The Chief Minister concluded by saying that his efforts are directed at making the Congress strong and providing an able administration to the people.
