Demonetization of currency notes initiated by Modi's Government is considered one of the man-made calamities of Indian history by some political analysts. They said November 8, 2016 was the dark day when the government officially announced to take back Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes. Resultantly, most of the poor became the poorest while the middle class people turned poor.

On the contrary, high profiles personalities like top politicians and other rich people were gossiped to have converted their black money into white. As per media's reports, more than 100 people who stood outside ATM queues were died due to over strain.

Kollywood's big star Kamal Haasan, who supported demonetization then, is now repenting for his support on the notes ban. The actor tendered his apologies in an article in Anand Vikatan magazine.

Since Kamal Haasan will be launching his new political party soon, he might have thought his support on notes ban would send negative feelers among the voters and so were the apologies conveyed by him to the people.
