Conspiracy on Polavaram, How to Face It?

The union government has allocated just Rs.100 crores for the Polavaram Project of Andhra Pradesh for the financial year, 2015-16. This less allocation of funds by the government has become the hot discussion topic among the politicians and analysts. Let's go for a complete case study on this project and measures to be taken get the project be completed on time.

ADVANTAGES:

* Polavaram Project is a boon and blessing for the people of AP. With Polavaram Project, AP will emerge as the richest agriculture state in India.

* This project was designed to overcome the deficit of waters in the coastal region of AP.

* Surplus water of Himalayan rivers will be transferred to the peninsular rivers of India.

* The surplus waters of Godavari river basin can be transferred to Krishna river basin.

* Though there is a rich water availability in the coastal districts like East Godavari, the irrigation department releases water to the first crop season only. The farmers fail to get the water to their second crops. If Polavaram Project gets completed, no question of scarcity of water for the farmers for both the crops per year. 68 TMCs of water will be available for the farmers for the second crop.

* There will be no floods and sea water will not sink the villages. Sterile lands become fertile. Nowhere we see no crop lands in the coastal regions.

* There will be permanent solution to drinking water scarcity problems.

* Hydro Electric Plants get sufficient water and around 1000 mega watts of electricity can be produced. Even villages get 24 hours power supply with Polavaram Project.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES RS. 100 CR. EVERY YEAR FOR POLAVARAM?:

* The project was initially estimated at more than Rs.16,000 crores and was sent to planning commission's approval. But it might reach upto Rs.20,000 crores when the project gets completed. Obviously it takes a span of 200 years for the completion of the project.

WHY BJP HAS NO INTEREST ON Polavaram Project?:

* BJP has no good number of MP and MLA seats in general elections from AP. The party has no roots in AP and so the high command has shown no interest on AP's development.

* Also there was pressure from other states like Telangana,  to union government to change the design of Polavaram. The BJP has good terms with TRS party.

* North Indian states have jealousy on South Indian states and especially they don't like AP due to unknown reasons.

* BJP might have suspected if the credit of Polavaram would be owned by ruling TDP through its pro media houses.

* WHAT ROLE RULING TDP IS PLAYING?

* TDP has foreseen that the BJP would show no interest on Polavaram Project. And so the government is thinking about developing Pattiseema project. Moreover, the government decides to continues its alliance with the BJP. If not, YSR CP may replace TDP in the state to develop a strong bond with BJP.

* WHAT IF THERE IS NO Polavaram Project IN AP?

* AP maybe one of the richest states in the future due to its vast agricultural land. But it can never become the richest state of India. The ruling party has never demanded the NDA government for the allocation of more funds to Polavaram. Moreover, caste based political parties have decided to invest  and develop only one or two regions in the state which obviously lead to decline of the development of other regions in the state.

WHAT SHOULD AP DO FOR COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT SWIFTLY?:

* Irrespective of any political gains, all the political parties in the state should join their hands to force the union government sanctioning at least Rs.5000 crores per year to get the project be completed in a span of 4 years.

* People of AP should agitate in such a way they should become the nightmare to NDA government.

* People who participated actively in Swach Bharat should come forward and lead and guide the people to achieve Polavaram Project

* Let's wish the people of AP all the best.
